About (old)

Hi, I’m Annette.

Nature lover. Sunrise chaser. Wild swimmer.

Longing for connection and a dash of wildness;
Exploring the world one outdoor swim at a time;
Capturing moments and places in words and in photos.

Epic living and climate action

I am French, married to Brian, an Irish man who shares my wanderlust and my love of all things outdoors, and maman to four bilingual acorns – Jedi, Mermaid, Squirrel and Pebbles.

Brian and I met in Paris, lived in London for 7 years and finally settled in Ireland in late 2010 after a three-year stopover in Copenhagen, Denmark.

We now live in beautiful county Wicklow, by the Irish Sea, and every summer we sail to France for several weeks of the good life in my native Haute-Loire.

Exploring the world one outdoor adventure at a time…

A journalist by trade with a background in travel publishing, I started my first blog nearly a year into our Danish expatriation, to keep family and friends in the loop.

In early 2010, I attended an eye-opening seminar with American travel photographer Gary Friedman, and my photography immediately took a turn for the better.

The acorns soon became my favourite models, and Ireland, the stunning background to our family adventures. In early 2016, Four Acorns / Quatre graines de chêne was launched to share our outdoor adventures and inspire families to explore the world around them.

In late 2018, I became a Cool Planet Champion and my journey into climate activism and nature advocacy started. As I see it, my mission, both on the blog and in real life, is to inspire people to fall in love again with this wondrous planet we call home.

A writer and reformed climate activist with a passion for trees and wild swimming, I live by the Irish Sea in Greystones, Co Wicklow, Ireland, with my Irish husband and our four bilingual children/teenagers.

For six years, I blogged in words and photos, and in two languages, at FourAcorns.ie.

Unplug. Get outside. Reconnect.

When Jedi, then aged 3, spent a year in a Danish forest preschool (skovbørnehave), the experience opened my eyes to the boundless world of outdoor learning. A world where children roam and play freely, explore nature with all their senses alert, and learn vital life skills along the way.

For nature-smart children have the power to save the world. No less.

Bonjour, je m’appelle Annette.

Amoureuse de nature. Chasseuse de soleils levants. Nageuse en eaux libres.

En quête de connexion au fil de l’eau et des chemins creux ;
Découvrant le monde au rythme de la nature ;
